Follow your dreams

August 10, 2012 — 31 Comments

1 month ago, this site went live.
My goodness, it feels like SO much longer than that.
As I pursue my little dream of being a writer, the support and encouragement I have received not just from complete strangers  around the world, has been an experience in itself. As most of you know, I have 2 major dreams. To be a Nurse, and a Midwife, and to write… to one day publish a book

So, one month into it all, how is it going?

Well…
21,671 readers in 126 different countries and 1000 faithful subscribers.
Incredible.
Rarely have I ever created something that I can honestly say I am proud of, but this? This is something I am very proud and blessed to call my own.
A few months ago, before I even began publishing my stories, I was in the middle of a particularly complex essay for my Nursing studies. It was so difficult, and I was so frustrated and tired, that it actually bought me to tears. I wrote to my Mother ‘Gee Mum, following your dreams sure can be hard sometimes’ to which she replied ‘Yes my Darling, that is why not many people do’
Oh how true this is. The fact that we live does not necessarily mean we will realise our dreams, because dreams are not a necessity of the breathe in, breathe out, day by day life. Many people can live a long life without ever seeing even the smallest of their secret dreams come to life before them… and what a tragedy. Yes, making your dreams come true, as Disney as this sounds, is most important, in fact, they are essential if you intend to truly live.
I will measure my success in life, at the end of my days, not with how much money I made, or people I impressed, or promotions I was awarded, but how many dreams I worked and worked and sacrificed and worked to see come true.
Thank you for all your encouragement, love and support, it has all made a difference. Thank you for your messages, your emails, for visiting this site and for being a part of the realisation of a dream for this little Kiwi gal, living in Australia. In order to prevent myself from going insane from sleep depravation, I have decided to only write on Sundays (this post was a bit of a cheat, because I was so happy.)

But, I have a story to tell you on Sunday, which I can’t wait to tell, but in the meantime, to celebrate one month into my new project, I created a poster to acknowledge every reader, in those 126 countries.

Look closely, your country will be there. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
My happiness overflows me, follow your dreams,
Love Ness xo

Why you want your readers/ bloggers to wait for your writeup the whole one week? You can better do it more frequently. I am a follower of your blog. Thanks.

Humongous (really, really, really large) kudos from the “Peach State” in the US of A! Amazing accomplishments for a year and you’ve done it in a month! I’m speechless, well, not exactly ’cause I am “speaking”, but that really is an outstanding kick off!

I just started following you on your journey. Wish you the best, from Saskatchewan, Canada.

It’s clear that you are not only realizing your dream as you write, but that you truly want to influence others toward positive ends–and not for selfish reasons, but because you are so hyped about the joy you’ve found in grasping for a bigger life. I think that when one realizes that life is passing her by, or him by, often the first step on the journey to achieving ones dreams, is open-minded introspection. Why look so deep? To identify what’s been stopping us until now. A parent? A sibling? A spouse or partner? Or, do we need to do as a former boyfriend of mine advises and ‘get out of your own way’.

This is truly inspiring as I’ve just started on pursuing my dream of being a writer that I’ve had since I was 3, and it’s so true that not enough people follow their dreams. So wonderful to see someone who is! Keep up the great work! 🙂

I’m usually only excited to receive a ‘like’ on a page because, well, it’s a ‘like’ on a page. But in this case, I’m more excited at having been directed to your blog.

It’s sweet. And your writing is impressive!

Always thrilled to see people fighting the man and dancing to their own music.

Keep dancing. Keep writing. And be weird!

Manchester United – you are a red?

    •

      I dont understand? Am I a red?

      •

You have a illustration or typographical representation of world by using names instead of maps? Included Manchester Utd. (United) a soccer team who wear red!

      •

Follow your dreams blog “word cloud” has Manchester Utd, a soccer team who wear red shirts in it ! The Utd bit is backward and tucked inside the first letter? Sorry but to a graphic designer AND United supporter it jumped off the screen. Their nickname is the ‘red devils’ and would you believe they are playing the ‘saints’ (Southampton) tomorrow?
have a nice weekend – dave
