Thank you for visiting my site, WrestlingPollyanna.com and ‘liking’ my post. As a new blogger, it is exciting to know that there are people out there reading what I have written.
I had found your blog about a month ago and was very impressed. I even passed your link onto a friend. (If I were on Facebook, I would have ‘liked’ it immediately — must join Facebook for such occasions…Facebook or not, I like it!)
I am proud of you for challenging yourself in this regard. It should be a pre-requisite for all twenty-somethings before they settle down with someone. What a great way to really discover what you want out of life without all the distractions and confusions that relationships can bring – and in the end, should you choose to settle down with someone, they will be right someone who supports your authentic self.
Good luck with your challenge. I hope you inspire others to do the same.
…oh, and btw, I love your writing style!

I am so sorry, I have only just seen this comment!
Thank you, thank you for sharing the link with your friend, I so appreciate it and also for your kind words and the fact you took the time to write them out for me. Please forgive me for being so rude and not responding earlier, I don’t know how I missed this comment!

Hey I absolutely love your blog, it’s amazing and funny!! I find it inspiring too 🙂 Keep up the awesome writing!

    Hello you lovely person.

Yesterday I did something that is starting to become a new principle of mine. If you want the world or people to give something to you start by giving somthing to them.
I wanted to get more readers for my blog, but didn’t get many. Yesterday I started paying attention to one blogger’s site only and the result was that I got 5 new readers the next day, one of which being you. 🙂

I really really am impressed by how you hold on to your dreams and persue them. And I love the way you write about it.
I particularly like your pictures of the sparrow and the silouette of a girl on the beach, totally at ease. The role-over title says “Me”. is that you?

Can I borrow those two pictures for my own blog?

    Thanks and greetings from
    Erika

The girl on the beach is me yes. That was taken in Kythera, a very small island about 9 hours off the coast of Athens, the island where my family is from. That was where it all began I think… Where I began to really crave solitude. Of course you may use it!!
The other photo does not belong to me. I found it on a tumblr site so I did not know who to credit as it had no credit attached to it.
Yes, I believe in your new principal. I share the same one although I say ‘You sow what you reap’ 🙂
      Nice to meet you Erika

Hey OTSD’s girl! I wanted to say thanks for checking things out @ Here & There. You seem to be on your way with quite the journey of self-discovery and learning. I pray you find the healing and wholeness you’re looking for, and are able to continue to grow into the woman the Lord has created you to be. Don’t forget to take a few of those 1000 days to check out what the creator says about who you are, and how you can live the best and most balanced life here on earth to prepare you (and those around you) for your best life ever Heaven-ward!

I must apologise! I have somehow missed the comments on this page and I feel so rude! Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by and not only reading but leaving such beautiful feedback! I promise you that there will be significant time learning what the creator has to say about who I am, and in fact, He has already led me through so much.
Thank you again, and so so sorry for not appreciating you earlier!

What an inspiration your blog was to me…. Thanks for stopping by and liking my blog. I am on the journey of becoming a teacher. I am really inspired by your story and I look forward to reading more…. Stay in touch.

  7.

Hi, there! I just nominated you for the Inspiring Blogger award! Rules are on my page, if you’re into that kind of thing (ok too if you’re not!). Have a beautiful day!

  8.

Just wanted to say that you are the very first blog I have actually followed. I never seem to be able to get into them as a rule but your writing, not to mention the subject matter, are quite extraordinary. I have read everything so far and am looking forward to what comes next, when you have slept enough, of course 😉
Oh and thanks for the like on my blog.

Wow, thank you so much for that. Smiling very much now. I hope that I keep you interested with whatever I write in the future. I began a clinical placement on a Mental health ward here in Australia on Monday and some of the things I have seen has given me so much information for a post I have been working on or a while about the fragility and strength of the brain/mind etc. I can’t wait to pour a glass of wine this weekend and write about it, so let me know what you think once its up.
      Have a great day.

    And I mean this sincerely… what a bloody good blog 🙂 #nowfollowing

I’ve been single over 1,000 days… from 4 months before I turned 27 to now with my 30th birthday coming up in 1 week- and I’ll tell you… I have no understanding as to why anyone would purposely choose to do it. I understand getting out of a relationship and taking some time…but as a person who is perpetually single, it isn’t as liberating or as fun as it might sound as the weeks tick by with no end in site… no one to go out to dinner with, no one to cuddle up and watch a movie with, no one to go on adventures with… I am however an expert at going out alone –dinner, drinks, movies, etc…but somehow after 3 years it really just isn’t fun…. sure I’m now working on a doctorate, I’ve moved in that time and done many great things- but I just can’t help feeling that it’d all be more joyful with someone to share it all with…

Let’s know what happens. When I made a vow like that, I met my future partner soon after… Still had a long way to go before sanity though. Love your posts and pics. Keep at it.

    Hey Vanessa,

I love what you’re doing here. I’m on a bit of a self-imposed relationship drought myself, through my college years. I think our world has got relationships all twisted up…culture teaches that they bring ultimate fulfillment, and I’d gotten so wrapped up in finding it there that I lost the beauty and joy of simply being together, for all of the weakness of human intermingling. I believe that in a good relationship, both partners have to have a story to invite someone into, and the story can’t simply be a romance that will soon grow cold. I think you’re finding your own story :). Kudos for taking time away for what can only be found on your own.

    Blessings,
    Chris

How is your self imposed drought going? And what are you studying? What have you learned since being single? Did you find it hard at any point?
So sorry I didn’t reply to you sooner, I missed your comment somehow.
Thank you so much for stopping by though, I really appreciate it.

No worries…I just thought maybe you were big time now, being on TV and all :).

It’s hard almost every day, especially when I meet an interesting new girl (and there are many of them at college). Sometimes I feel like I need to just move to a girl-less island. I’ve been pretty angry at myself and at God because I’ve put these restrictions on myself and sometimes they’re just really frustrating. Something in me is determined though, and I’m convinced that it’s better to do life on my own for awhile. And it gets easier each time, the whole “saying no” to pursuing a particular relationship.

I’m studying Computer Science with a minor in Biblical and Religious studies. I’ve really seen my focus and motivation in those areas go way up without the weight of relationship on my shoulders. How are you feeling? Relationships can be exhausting…do you feel any kind of freedom?

I think what I’ve been learning is how important it is to have an identity, to know what I want and why I want it. My tendency the past has always been to have another person define those things for me, but it’s long past time to figure them out for myself.

So that’s the way my story is going. Some days I have trouble even seeing myself in a relationship in the future. I look at people around me and see so much brokenness and just how bad we are at love…sometimes I’m not sure I can do better, and I’m not sure that it’s worth it if I can’t. But I think it probably is. That’s the way most people go in the end. Do you see yourself going back to a relationship after your thousand days?

  13.

thank you for liking my blog. It was a pleasure to read some of yours.

  14.

I commend you on committing to such a challenging goal, at least by today’s standards. The personal growth that should come from this experience should more than make up for the hardship it may take. This reminds me a song by Madonna, ‘The Power of Good Bye’…”Freedom comes when you learn to let go, Creation comes when you learn to say no”.

LOVE THOSE LYRICS, thank you so much! That is so true. There have definitely been challenges so far, but I know instinctively that it will be worth it in the end, so I press on. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my site, I appreciate it.

Thank you, I hope you enjoy the song and God bless you and the wonderful gifts He gave you.
